I believe that Elftown can recover from losing a great many of its founding members. Although we miss them and hope they will come back someday, it's important to focus on the positive. Let's focus on getting new blood People! We need New artists. ET is getting slightly inbred, with all the same people taking charge of contests and changes. They shouldn't have to carry all the load!
Ramirez, I think this wiki is a good idea, but by making yourself the judge on "whos house passes muster" You are cutting of a lot of good people. I know quite a few members (including [Mom]) who leave their houses blank, but still keep contributing to making ET a better and more artistic place.

You don't have to have your house riddled with your work, some people change their styles and move on, but they're still amazing artists and I understand that.

2008-08-08 [Paul Doyle]: I never have been the most popular person on here, and I have a tendency to speak my mind. I do believe the "other" wiki has lost much, if not all, of its original intent. In fact, I think take elftown back has become a joke. It seems to have degenerated into a place to shut up people who actually WANT change, for the better.

Though I have backed off from a number of ET things and will no longer be as active or as outspoken as I once was, I do believe in any group that sticks up for the interests of the people who this website was originally intended: the Elfwood artists and writers, other artists and writers, genre fans and RPG'ers. I also believe we need people top-to-bottom who have their priorities straight on this website. For several years ET was thoroughly weakened by certain people with diverging interests, who chose to make Elftown into something along the lines of "Elfpack II". Most of those people are no longer active on council, thank God. A lot of damage has been done, in the form of people leaving and/or losing interest in Elftown, despite unquestionably great improvements (such as the application system, for example). I don't think I'm going out on a limb when I say MANY people have left because they were fed up with a general disdain and disregard for those of us who originally came here for the artistic e-community aspect of this website.

Yet times are starting to change!!! I hope I'm not the only one who's feeling it.

So . . . even though I've made just as many enemies as I've made friends over the years, I'd like to be added if this is OK. And no, I'm not a "troll" though that seems to be what a lot of people like to think of me as being, anymore. (Ironic, since I used to be one of the most fervently anti-troll people on this website! How times change . . . )

I have a mind, I speak my mind, I do not mean any of it personally, and yes I certainly do artwork and writing. I hope most of the other people who agree with this wiki's goals (and not just people who want to jump on the damn bandwagon like it's some insincere "fan club" wiki for so-and-so) can relate to that.

I don't intend to say a heck of a lot more because I'm hoping we'll get great statements and brainstorms by lots of people. This is how a community grows. Even I get annoyed by some of the stuff I write, from time to time :P

I will say, though . . . people, publicize this wiki! Don't spam other people's RPG's and such, of course (as that would be both disruptive and annoying) but double-post your diary entries, and so on. (Double-post: Friends-only and public diary posts.) If people are mildly annoyed by double-posts showing up in their watch-boxes, then you can work it out with them so you and them are happy. If they send you a screaming shit-fit personal message (I've been on the receiving ends of several of those!) then ask yourself: why do you have them as relations? If they dump you as relations because of your advertising of this bound-to-be-somewhat-controversial wiki, then guess what? They weren't your friends, and maybe they were just spying on you all along for some silly paranoid moron with personal issues. Hell, if we stay true to this wiki's intent, you'll find plenty of prospective relations and friends here.
